I visited Gallerie d’Italia to see the exhibition Donne nella Napoli spagnola. Un altro Seicento and it was a beautiful experience. The exhibition is thoughtfully curated, the paintings are powerful and full of emotion, many of them depicting dramatic biblical moments like Jacob and Rachel with incredible sensitivity and intensity. What I appreciated most was how the exhibition highlights the presence and voices of women in 17th century Naples. Discovering the story and work of Diana Di Rosa was especially meaningful to me. I had never heard of her before, and seeing her paintings while learning about her life felt like uncovering a hidden chapter of art history. Alongside the paintings there are sculptures and other pieces that enrich the narrative and make the whole exhibition feel alive. As someone who loves art, it was one of those exhibitions where you slow down, observe details, and leave feeling inspired.

Excellent museum right in the heart of Napoli with a variety of art for any kind of taste. We visited when the Obey exhibition was on which was incredibly interesting and thought provoking. They also had art from all kinds of other eras, including royal times and modern/contemporary. Well worth the entrance fee of €8 and is free (even if you’re from the UK!) if you’re under 25.

Amazing collection in a perfectly restored building with a modern curation combining classical Greek ceramics up to contemporary art. The cafe on ground level is fantastic.

One of the most magnificent Fascist era building I have the pleasure to enter and enjoy. Built in 1940, as magnificent and imposing 100 years later. Come inside to see it!
